In mei 1975 ging de komische popfilm "Never too young to rock" in première in Dublin. In deze film speelden ook The Rubbettes, The Glitter Band en Peter Noone een rol.

De film "Never too young to rock" is op 27 november 1987 nog bij de BBC uitgezonden.
Het verhaal:
Een zekere Hero hoort dat een T.V. station er toe wil overgaan om voortaan alleen nog maar Fanfare-muziek uit te zenden, en Hero vindt dit een zeer slecht idee. Hij koopt daarom een bus die hij volpropt met elektronische grappen.
Als bestuurder van de bus neemt hij Mister Rockbottom, die echter in het geheel niet te vertrouwen is, maar dat weet Hero op dat moment nog niet. Rockbottom is namelijk een zeer groot fan van Fanfare muziek en heeft een grondige hekel aan Rockmuziek!
Hero wil d.m.v. een Rock-concert aantonen dat deze muziek een zeer groot publiek kent. Voor dit concert heefft hij een aantal groepen nodig, die garant staan voor een maximum aan ongeregelde toestanden. Mr. Rockbottom leidt hem naar de Whoopee-band, die uit fanfare- freaks bestaat, en zodoende dreigt het weer op fanfaremuziek uit te draaien. De Glitterband brengt uitkomst.
Tevens wordt Mr. Rockbottom haast van zijn stokje gebombardeerd door een regisseur die net bezig is een nieuwe scene voor een nog uit te brengen film op te nemen. Het geglitter is niet van de lucht. Net op tijd krijgt Hero nog het adres van The Rubettes en hij klaart zienderogen op. Een dirigent van een fanfare-orkest doet een aanslag op Rockbottom en Mud moet eraan te pas komen om de man te redden.
Het gevolg van dit alles is een ware veldslag tussen Rockers en de fanfare-liefhebbers. Dit meningsverschil wordt vrolijk uitgevochten. Nogel verfomfaaid, maar verkwikt arriveren Hero en Rockbottom nog net op tijd op het podium van Piccadilly Underground Station, alwaar de pret pas goed begint met als hoogtepunt het gezamelijk optreden van Mud met de Rubettes en de Glitterband. Het laatste half uur bestaat uit muziek, muziek en nog eens muziek!

In May 1975 the comic rock-movie "Never too young to rock" went in première in Dublin. In this movie also played The Rubbettes, The Glitter Band and Peter Noone.

The movie "Never too young to rock" was shown on the British television on 27 November 1987 (BBC).
The story:
Some guy called Hero hears that a TV-station plans to broadcast brass-band music, and Hero doesn't like this idea. He therefore buys a bus, which he fills with electronic jokes.
As driver he hires Mr. Rockbottom, who can't be trusted. But Hero doesn't know yet. Rockbottom is in favor of brass-band music, and hates Rock music!
Hero wants to organise a Rock-concert and proof that this music style has a big audience. For this concert he needs a couple of bands, who are a guarantee for a maximal kind of unusual happenings. Mr. Rockbottom brings him to the Whoopee-band, which is in fact a brass-band! It threatens to become a brass-band music show. The Glitter Band comes for the rescue.
Mr. Rockbottom almost gets bombed by a director who's busy taking a scene for a new movie. The Glittering is overwhelming. Just in time Hero gets the address of The Rubettes and his mood improves very quickly. A conductor of a brass-band attacks Rockbottom and Mud saves him.
The result is a true battle between the Rockers and the Brass-Band fans. This difference of opinion is fought over in a comic way. Tousled but refreshed arrive Hero and Rockbottom just in time on the stage of Piccadilly Underground Station, where the fun really starts with the highlight of a concert by Mud, The Rubettes and the Glitter Band together. The last half hour just contains music, music and music!

De tweede film waarin Mud en met name Dave Mount een rol speelde, heet "Side by side", en was in december 1975 in de Dublinse bioscoop te zien. Ook hierin traden The Rubettes op, aslmede Stephanie de Sykes, Lynsey de Paul en Spike Milligan.

"Side By Side" was een aardig zwakke comedy die een paar 70's rockgroepen liet zien, met Barry Humphries (in mannelijke kledij) en een ziekelijke Terry-Thomas. En hoewel deze film gedraaid heeft in Australië, het vaderland van Humphries and Beresford, in Groot Brittannië heeft hij de bioscopen niet gehaald en was deze voor het eerst te zien overdag op TV.

"Side By Side" was a rather weak comedy showcasing some tacky 70's rock bands, starring Barry Humphries (in male garb) and a sadly ill-looking Terry-Thomas; and though it was released to cinemas in Humphries' and Beresford's homeland of Australia, in Britain it was first shown on daytime TV.
