RAK: Chinn & Chapman


MUD trad hier en daar op, bracht 4 single-tjes uit en had matig succes. Ze dachten eraan om maar te stoppen, toen ze rond 1972 een optreden hadden in "The revolution club" in Londen, waar Mickie Most hen zag. Hij was zeer onder de indruk van Mud en zo gebeurde het dat ze in contact kwamen met de heren Nicky Chinn en Mike Chapman.	MUD had gigs here and there, they released 4 singles, and had a little bit of success. They were thinking about quitting when they had a gig in 1972 in "The revolution club" in London. Mickie Most was in the audience and was very impressed with Mud. He contacted them with Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman.
Mike Chapman: "We wisten meteen dat dit was wat we zochten. Deze groep had alles: goed uitziend, talentvol, enthousiast, origineel; het enige wat ontbrak was een hit."		Mike Chapman: "We new immediately this is what we were searching for. This band had everything: looks, talents, enthousiastic, original; the only thing what was missing, was a hit."
Het succes bleef niet lang uit en de nummers Crazy en Hypnosis bestormden de Engelse hitlijsten in 1973. In Nederland braken ze echter pas met Dyna-mite in 1974 goed door. De hit-machine van RAK was nu echt op stoom en Tigerfeet, The cat crept in en Rocket volgden. Met kerst deden ze het wat rustiger aan met de ballad "Lonely this Christmas". Dit gebeurde allemaal in één jaar: 1974. Het is dan ook niet verwonderlijk dat Mud uitgeroepen werd tot popgroep van het jaar.		The success was easily made and the songs Crazy and Hypnosis entered the English charts in 1973. In Holland their first succes was Dyna-mite in 1974. RAK's hit-machine was at full steam and Tiger feet, The cat crept in and Rocket where next. When Christmas was approaching, they made a ballad: Lonely this Christmas. This happened all in one year: 1974. So it's not surprising that Mud was "Best Popgroup of the Year".
In 1975 ging het succes door met nummers als "The secrets that you keep", "Oh Boy", "Moonshine Sally" en "One Night".	In 1975 the success continued with "The secrets that you keep", "Oh Boy", "Moonshine Sally" and "One Night".
